Sperm can only live in the woman’s body for 3 to 5 days, and the egg can only be fertilised within 24 hours of it being released from the ovary. In order to increases chances of getting pregnant it is recommended to have sexual intercourse of the day of ovulation or within two days before ovulation.

A woman is born with her lifetime supply of eggs. At birth girls have more than a million eggs in her ovaries and by puberty only about 300,000 eggs remain, degenerating with time
