It is not clear what the exact cause of PCOS is. It may be caused by insulin resistance, excess weight, family history, genetics, long term low grade inflammation.
- Your doctor will ask about your medical history and your symptoms.
- You will also have a physical exam.
- This will likely include a pelvic exam.
- Tests such as ultrasound and blood tests will also be carried out.
- Other tests may include testing blood pressure, blood sugar, mental health screening, screening for sleep apnea
